Summary

This Knowledgebase article provides information about how to connect the Neverfail Heartbeat Management Client to a server pair in a WAN.

More Information

To configure the Neverfail Heartbeat Management Client to connect to a Neverfail Heartbeat server pair situated in different subnets, use the DNS or NetBIOS name on the Neverfail Heartbeat Login panel.

When launching the Neverfail Heartbeat Management Client:

  1. Click on the Servers button.
  2. Then click on Add Pair .
  3. Instead of entering the IP address, type the DNS name of the server to be managed.

This is typical in a WAN installation where the Primary and Secondary servers have different IP addresses and the DNS script entries have been inserted into the Start script during the install.

This will enable the remote Neverfail Heartbeat Management Client to connect to the active server during a switchover because DNS will be used to resolve the name to the currently active IP address.
