This Knowledgebase article provides information about the features and functions of Windows that Neverfail Heartbeat replication does not support.
Unsupported Windows Features and Functions in Neverfail Heartbeat SP3.x and V4.x
In Versions of Neverfail Heartbeat up to and including V4.2, the following Windows features and functions are unsupported:
- Compressed files / folders
- The read-only attribute on files / folders
- Security descriptors on files / folders
- Directory shares
- Encrypted files / folders
- Alternative data streams
- Extended attributes
- Hard links
Reparse points and applications thereof, including:
- Directory junctions
- Volume mount points
- Symbolic Links
- Single instance store
- Remote storage
- Any 3rd-party (non-Microsoft) applications of Reparse points
- Sparse files
- Disk quotas
Where the above list refers generally to file attributes (items 1, 2, 3, 5 and 7), the file itself will generally still be replicated, but the unsupported file attributes will not be.
New Feature/Function Supported in V4.3:
Items 1 through 4 will be supported from Neverfail Heartbeat V4.3 onwards; and, in addition, although Reparse Points are not specifically supported, Windows 2003 DFS Links will also be replicated in Neverfail Heartbeat V4.3.
New Feature/Function Supported in V4.6.1 Onwards:
Handling of Apple MAC files and Alternate Data Streams.
Neverfail Heartbeat V4.6.1 onwards replicates Alternate Data Streams enabling Apple MAC files to be protected.
As Indicated Above
