More Information

BEFORE YOU BEGIN:

- Please ensure you have read and fully understood the instructions below BEFORE attempting to install the AMX.

- Neverfail Heartbeat and AMXs are licensed separately by Neverfail Group. Before running the procedure below, please ensure you have a valid license key for the AMX you wish to install. This key can be obtained from the Neverfail Extranet, either directly or via your Channel Partner.

- This article assumes that you are installing an AMX which protects a mail-scanning antivirus tool for Microsoft Exchange. If you are installing any other AMX, please contact Neverfail Support.

- It may be necessary to reboot both servers when installing antivirus software.

- This procedure is applicable ONLY if you are installing an AMX for one of the following antivirus tools:

¤ Symantec Mail Security 4.5
¤ Symantec Mail Security 4.6
¤ McAfee GroupShield 6.0
¤ Microsoft Antigen (Sybari Antigen for Exchange) 7.5

To install an AMX, complete the steps below:

On a remote client PC, or the ACTIVE server, as appropriate:

1. Download the required AMX from the appropriate product area of the Neverfail Partner Extranet and extract the contents to a folder. Copy the folder and its contents to both of the servers in your Neverfail pair.

2. Download Z-Sw-H-V4.5-update-from-V4.4. zip from the appropriate product area of the Neverfail Partner Extranet and extract the contents to a folder. Copy this folder (referred to below as the 'update kit' folder) to both of the servers in your Neverfail pair

3. Shutdown Neverfail Heartbeat, and close any other applications you may have open on the Active and Passive servers.

4. Close all remaining instances of the Neverfail Server Pairs Overview window you may have open on any client PCs.

5. On the passive server (normally the Secondary):

- Install the antivirus software
- Launch the Windows Service Control Manager (SCM) and identify the antivirus (AV) services. If any AV services have status = MANUAL/STOPPED, set these services to AUTOMATIC/STOPPED
- Run the Setup.exe program in the update kit folder.
- On the "Setup Type" screen, select "Install AM(X)" and "Next>"
- On the License Configuration panel:

¤ If you require an additional license key for the AMX, press 'Add...', then enter the required license key in the edit box
¤ If no additional license is required, just click "Next>"

- On the "AM(X) Configuration" screen, select "Add..." and then browse to the AMX script
- For the remaining steps follow the instructions on the screen

After completing this procedure:

- Ensure that any services installed by the antivirus program are stopped
- Ensure that any Exchange- or IIS-related services started by the antivirus program are stopped:

¤ IIS Admin Service (IISADMIN)
¤ World Wide Web Publishing Service (W3SVC)
¤ HTTP SSL (HTTPFilter) - Windows 2003 only
¤ Any other service

6. On the active server (normally the Primary):

- Install the antivirus software
- Run the Setup.exe program in the update kit folder.
- On the "Setup Type" screen, select "Install AM(X)" and "Next>"
- On the License Configuration panel:

¤ If you require an additional license key for the AMX, press 'Add...', then enter the required license key in the edit box
¤ If no additional license is required, just click "Next>"

- On the "AM(X) Configuration" screen, select "Add..." and then browse to the AMX script
- For the remaining steps follow the instructions on the screen

7. Start Neverfail Heartbeat on the passive server, and then on the active server.

8. On a remote client PC, or the ACTIVE server, as appropriate, use the Neverfail Heartbeat Management Client to check that the Neverfail Channel is connected and that a full system check is in progress.
