Uninstalling an application module (Neverfail Heartbeat V4.5 onwards)

Preparation
===========

NOTE: This procedure can be performed with zero application downtime.

1. Launch the Neverfail Heartbeat Management Client
2. Check the current role of the Primary server. If the Primary server is currently Passive, perform a Switchover so that the Primary server becomes Active.
3. Shut down Neverfail Heartbeat, choosing to leave the protected application running.

The following procedures require Administrator access to both servers.

Note: Neverfail Heartbeat must be stopped and shutdown before following these procedures.


Uninstalling AMs
================

On the Primary Active server do the following:

-From the folder R2\Bin under the Neverfail program directory launch setup.exe
-Select “Uninstall selected components” and then click “Next”
-Check ALL the AMs you have installed and then click “Next”
-Read the information page, make sure that Neverfail Heartbeat is stopped and click “Next” again
-Wait until the uninstall process completes
-Check the Report page for any errors during the uninstall, click “Next” and then -“Finish” to complete the process

On the Secondary Passive Server do the following:

-From the folder R2\Bin under Neverfail program directory, launch setup.exe
-Select “Uninstall selected components” and then click “Next”
-Check ALL the AMs you have installed and then click “Next”
-Read the information page, make sure that Neverfail Heartbeat is stopped and click “Next” again
-Wait until the uninstall process completes
-Check the Report page for any errors during the uninstall, click “Next” and then “Finish” to complete the process
-Launch the “Configure Server” wizard
-From the Machine tab set the server as Secondary Passive and click “Finish” to save the changes

When the AMs have been removed from BOTH servers, reconfigure the applications on the Primary and Secondary. This could involve one or more of the following actions:


- Installing the additional application components you wish to protect
- Uninstalling the application components you no longer wish to protect
- Enabling protection on a service by making sure that the Startup Type is set to 'Automatic'
- Disabling protection for a service by setting the Startup Type to 'Disabled' or 'Manual' and ensuring the Status is 'Stopped'


Reinstalling the AMs
==============

On the Primary server:

-From the folder R2\Bin from the Neverfail program directory launch setup.exe
-Select “Install AM(X) and click “Next”
-Review the License page. If you want to amend license details, you can do this now. -Click “Next”
-Click the “Add” button and then “Browse” to set the path to the AM(X) scripts (you have to choose “.vbs” in the “Files of type” field for the AM scripts). Select the script and click “OK”. Repeat this for all the AMs, then click “Next”
-Review the Installation Summary page and click “Next”
-Make sure Neverfail Heartbeat is stopped and then click “Next”
-If there are errors listed on the pre-install page, click “Back”, resolve the issues and then click “Next”
-Wait until the installation process completes and click “Next” and then “Finish”

On the Secondary server:

-From the folder R2\Bin from the Neverfail program directory launch setup.exe
-Select “Install AM(X) and click “Next”
