The following procedure will allow passive server management regardless of the Neverfail Heartbeat status on the active server.


Procedure

Neverfail Heartbeat v5.3 and earlier

To open the Neverfail Heartbeat Management Client on the server that has the passive role in the Neverfail pair, please follow the steps below:

  1. Login locally on the passive server.
  2. Ensure that Neverfail Heartbeat is started on the passive server.
  3. Double-click on the Neverfail icon in the system tray.
  4. Enter the username and password.
  5. Click on the Servers icon and select Add Pair .
  6. Add localhost as the host name and click OK and then click Close .
  7. Ensure that the localhost server is selected in the Server dropdown list.
  8. Click OK to open Server Pairs Overview.
  9. Double-click on the established connection to open the Neverfail Heartbeat Management Client.

Neverfail Heartbeat v6.0 and later

To open the Neverfail Heartbeat Management Client on the server that has the passive role in the Neverfail pair, please follow the steps below:

  1. Login locally on the passive server.
  2. Ensure that Neverfail Heartbeat is started on the passive server.
  3. Double-click on the Neverfail icon in the system tray.
  4. Enter the username and password (if requested).
  5. Navigate to File > Add Connection .
  6. Add localhost as the host name, enter the port number if different than the default client connection port, and select the group to add the connection to.
  7. Click OK to add the server to the group and display the Server: Overview page.
  8. Double-click on the established connection in the Server: Overview page to open the Neverfail Heartbeat Management Client and display information about the selected server group.
