During the installation of Neverfail Heartbeat, Neverfail Heartbeat Setup allows the user to add shortcuts to the desktop. The group of shortcuts includes the Uninstall/Modify shortcut that will launch Setup to allow for the removal of Neverfail Heartbeat from the server. Additionally, Neverfail Heartbeat can be uninstalled using the Microsoft Windows Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features snap-in. If the user chooses, they may uninstall manually using the procedures listed in Knowledgebase article #1747 - How to Manually Uninstall Neverfail Heartbeat V5.3 and Later .

Procedure

To uninstall Neverfail Heartbeat, select one of the procedures below:

  1. Desktop Shortcut method:
    1. Right-click the Neverfail System Tray icon and select Shutdown Neverfail Heartbeat or Shutdown Group and elect to either leave the protected applications running or stop them.
    2. After Neverfail Heartbeat has shutdown, double-click the Uninstall or Modify desktop shortcut.
    3. When the Setup page appears, select Uninstall and click Next .
    4. As each page appears after clicking Next , read the information and follow the instructions.
    5. Elect to Leave this server on the network after uninstall (normally selected for the Primary server) or Leave this server off the network after uninstall (normally selected for the Secondary server). Selecting to Leave the server off the network after uninstall requires you to enter a new name for the server. Click Next .

      Note: Due to the Principal (Public) IP address configuration, one of the servers must be removed from the network prior to the packet filters being removed. Failure to either reconfigure the IP address or remove one of the servers from the network will result in a network IP address conflict.
    6. Neverfail Heartbeat uninstalls automatically.

      Note: Some folders and files containing logs will remain. Neverfail suggests that these folders and files be left on the server in the event of reinstallation at a later date or in the event a Support Request is submitted.
    7. After Neverfail Heartbeat has been uninstalled, restart the server.
  2. Control Panel method:
    1. Right-click the Neverfail System Tray icon and select Shutdown Neverfail Heartbeat or Shutdown Group and elect to either leave the protected applications running or stop them.
    2. Navigate to Start > Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features .
    3. Select Neverfail Heartbeat .
    4. Click Uninstall/Change .
    5. When the Setup page appears, select Uninstall and click Next .
    6. As each page appears after clicking Next , read the information and follow the instructions.
    7. Elect to Leave this server on the network after uninstall (normally selected for the Primary server) or Leave this server off the network after uninstall (normally selected for the Secondary server). Selecting to Leave the server off the network after uninstall requires you to enter a new name for the server. Click Next .
