Incorrect Share on Secondary Server Causes Trend ScanMail to Fail to Start After the First Switchover

This Knowledgebase article provides information about incorrect shares on the Secondary server causing Trend ScanMail to fail to start after the first switchover.

Symptom

This issue can affect an AM(X) used to protect Trend ScanMail V6.2. This error will occur after a Neverfail Heartbeat installation when the first switchover is performed from Primary to Secondary server.

If you switchover to the make the Secondary server active, you will get the following error:

The on server is not shared

Cause

This issue appears in the Trend FAQ list and is related to the folder where Trend has been installed and the folder not being shared as "ScanMail".

Resolution

To resolve this issue, create the share manually on the Secondary server. Simply locate the folder c:\program files\trend\smex on the Secondary server and share it as "ScanMail".
