This Knowledgebase article provides information about the Taskbar icon showing incorrect status of a Neverfail Server.
The Taskbar icon fails to show the correct status.
This is normally caused as a result of multiple instances of the Taskbar icon being run at the same time.
The following procedure can be used to workaround the issue of the Taskbar icon not showing the correct status. Neverfail recommends using the Neverfail Heartbeat Management Client for the most accurate representation of server status. The Management Client should be used where possible ahead of Windows Terminal Services or other remote programs like WinVNC.
The following procedure can be used to check how many instances of the nffstartupapp.exe are running, and to restart the Taskbar application. There are known issues with multiple copies updating the shared information. For this reason, please make sure that there is only a single instance running.
- Run Task Manager from the local server and select the 'Show tasks for all users' check box.
- Look for more than one instance of nffstartupapp.exe in the running processes.
- If you see more than one of them, end each process in turn.
- To start the Taskbar icon again, select it from Start -> All Programs -> Neverfail -> Start System Tray Application .
