More Information

Symptoms

The Neverfail Management Client will show that the Registry Status is 'out of synch'.

The following entry will be present in the NFLog.txt:

[2004-03-04 11:37:10,340]ERROR918205[RegistryWalker]
(com.neverfail.registry.state.WalkerNFBean) - Exception in Registry Checker:
java.lang.Exception: Call to RegOpenKeyEx failed: on
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\ScanMail_Monitor\Performance :
Insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service.

Solution

Although there are no Knowledge Base articles on the Trend Anti-Virus website, there are a number of unapproved recommendations, which suggest deleting the key below if your system encounters problems. Please ensure you verify this prior to implementation as Neverfail cannot accept responsibility for advice, which has not been approved by the appropriate supplier.

HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\ScanMail_Monitor\Performance

Procedure for deleting the key:

  1. Shutdown Neverfail Heartbeat.
  2. On the Primary server, export the registry key:

HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\ScanMail_Monitor\Performance

This provides for a successful rollback, if required.

  1. Delete the following key from the Primary server:

HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Scanmail_Monitor\Performance

  1. Restart Primary–active and check system for errors.
  2. Restart Secondary-passive and allow to Synch and Verify (Full System Check).

On completing this procedure, the Full System Check should complete and the systems will become synchronized, provided there are no other issues.
