Getting properties from the Neverfail Bean

Follow

Summary
======
This article describes how to get properties from the Neverfail bean.

More Information
============

The product, "Neverfail" stores state in both the registry and memory. The info in the registry is persisted, that in memory exists per session. Below are some tips on interogating this state.

---

There are two basic types of properties

persisted
readable

There is often some overlap between them.

To see all the infomation that is persisted, have a hunt around in the registry under:

HKLM\Software\Javasoft\Prefs

To list presisted or readable properties on a per module basis, use:

getp
getr

i.e

getr Controller
getp Apply
getr Apply

Persisted properties may be set individually with, for instance:

setp Controller IsActiveServer false

getp/getr cannot be used to read a single property, instead, use gets:

gets Controller IsActiveServer **** this is the line that Radu wants ;-) i.e

'nfcmd localhost gets Controller IsActiveServer'

-----------------

Other information
===============
Most modules have a help page:

help Controller
help Apply

Some developers have also built in some ability to dump state to the log file

For example:

DumpAllApply
