This Knowledgebase article explains the protection offered by iHateSpam for Exchange AM(X). SunBelt iHateSpam is an anti-spam software for Microsoft Exchange, which checks the incoming email by using SMTPOnPostCategorize Event Sink and does not install any service. iHateSpam stores the data in either a MSDE database (locally) or a Microsoft SQL database (either locally or remote). The AM(X) protects the configuration files, application logs, reports and the local MSDE database files, attributed to iHateSpam.

There are no services to be protected for this product.

Protected Data

This is a description of the protected data set that was determined when the AM(X) was installed. Please note that exact filters will be based on the configuration of the application when the AM(X) was installed.

  • All registry data
  • All the configuration information
  • The application logs, reports, and backup of the configuration data

Automatic Filter Discovery

The AM(X) does not provide a filter discovery component. The AM(X) will need to be reinstalled according to Knowledgebase article #462 - 'How to Upgrade or Reinstall an Application Module to Protect Previously Unprotected Features' if the application is reconfigured such that new locations are specified for files that are currently protected.

Unsupported Components or Features

The AM(X) does not protect the following application features or components:

  • To protect data stored on the Microsoft SQL Server that is installed locally on an Exchange server, the Neverfail for SQL Server AM is required.
