This Knowledgebase article provides information about how to use a non-default location to store BlackBerry Enterprise Server logs when Neverfail is installed.
BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) allows the user to store logs in a non-default location in the form of 'drive:\...\folder_name\beslog.txt' where folder_name is created from the date: year + month + day - i.e. 20080220. If the LogRoot is set to the root of a drive, e.g. D:\, Neverfail for BlackBerry Enterprise Server Plug-in will attempt to protect the parent folder which would result in the filter 'D:\**'. The Neverfail filter manager will veto filters for drive roots, resulting in unprotected log files.
To ensure that log files are protected, follow the procedure below:
Shutdown Neverfail Heartbeat and opt to stop protected applications.
From BlackBerry Server Configuration -> Logging tab, change the logs storage location.
For BlackBerry Enterprise Server versions prior to 4.1.5, to ensure file filters are not rejected, specify a folder for the logs, for example D:\BlackBerryLogs. This will result in the filter D:\BlackBerryLogs\** being created.
For BlackBerry Enterprise Server 4.1.5 and later, when pointing to the root of a drive such as D:\, the BlackBerry Enterprise Server application will append "\BlackBerry Enterprise Server\logs" to the new path thereby preventing the situation described above.
Restart Neverfail Heartbeat.
