NOTE: This procedure supports upgrades of a V5.3[.n], V5.4[.n], or V5.5[.n] server Pair to a V6.0[.n] or V6.2[n] server Pair. It does not support upgrading from a Pair (two servers) to a Trio (three servers).

Uninstall and Reinstall Neverfail SCOPE

Uninstall the previous version of Neverfail SCOPE Data Collector Service by navigating to Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs > Neverfail SCOPE Data Collector Service . Click Remove to uninstall.

Install the Current Version of Neverfail SCOPE

  1. Download Neverfail SCOPE from the Neverfail Extranet by navigating to Products/Downloads > Neverfail SCOPE and selecting the appropriate version of SCOPE.
  2. Save the .ZIP installer file to an appropriate location.
  3. Double-click the .ZIP file and extract the installer file. Read the Readme.txt file for additional information.
  4. Double-click the installer file to start the installation wizard.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

Upgrade to Neverfail Heartbeat V6.0/V6.2

Perform the following steps to preserve your current configuration settings while upgrading from Neverfail Heartbeat V5.3.[n], V5.4[.n], or V5.5[.n] to Neverfail Heartbeat V6.0[.n] or V6.2[.n].

NOTE: You will be required to obtain a new license key during the upgrade process.
  1. Upload a copy of Neverfail SCOPE data and obtain a new Neverfail license key based on HBSig.
  2. Download  the V6.0/V6.2 version of Neverfail Heartbeat and extract the contents to an appropriate location on both Primary and Secondary servers.
  3. On the Primary/active server, stop Neverfail Heartbeat. You can leave the protected applications running.
  4. Navigate to Start > Administrative Tools > Services and set Neverfail Server R2 service to manual.
  5. On the Secondary/passive server, navigate to Start > Administrative Tools > Services and set Neverfail Server R2 service to manual.
  6. On the Secondary/passive server, disconnect network cable on the Principal (Public) NIC.
  7. On the Primary/active server, launch V6.0/V6.2 Setup.exe and select Install Service Pack from the Setup Type window.
  8. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the ServicePack.nfs script. When prompted, restart the server.
  9. On the Secondary/passive server, launch V6.0/V6.2 Setup.exe and select Install Service Pack from the Setup Type window.
  10. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the ServicePack.nfs script. When prompted, restart the server.
  11. On the Primary/active server, check the configuration of the NICs and make corrections if necessary (the packet filter should be selected on Principal (Public) NICs and cleared on channel NICs).
  12. On the Secondary/passive server, check the configuration of NICs and make corrections if necessary (the packet filter should be selected on Principal (Public) NICs and cleared on channel NICs).
  13. Launch the Server Configuration wizard.
  14. Click on the License tab and enter a valid Neverfail Heartbeat V6.0/V6.2 license key.
  15. Click Finish .
  16. On the Primary/active server, start Neverfail Heartbeat.
  17. Navigate to Start > Administrative Tools > Services and set Neverfail Server R2 service to automatic.
  18. On the Secondary/passive server, start Neverfail Heartbeat and reconnect the network cable to the Principal (Public) NIC.
  19. Navigate to Start > Administrative Tools > Services and set Neverfail Server R2 service to automatic.

Upgrades to Neverfail Heartbeat V6.0[.n] or V6.2[.n] from:

  • Neverfail Heartbeat V5.3.0, V5.3.1, V5.3.2, V5.3.3, and V5.3.4
  • Neverfail Heartbeat V5.4.0, V5.4.1, V5.4.2
  • Neverfail Heartbeat V5.5.0, and V5.5.1
