    1. Wait for the plug-in to completely uninstall and remove all protection.
    2. Check the Neverfail Application event log event to ensure this process has completed on the passive server.
  2. Install the Neverfail for BlackBerry Plug-in V201.5.4 (this version supports V4.0, V4.1, and V5.0).
    1. Wait for the plug-in installation process to complete.
    2. Verify that all services and filters are added.
  3. Shutdown Neverfail for BlackBerry Enterprise Server, opting to leave the protected applications running.
  4. Upgrade to BlackBerry Enterprise Server V5.0 by running the setup.exe.

Note: This will also upgrade the BlackBerry Configuration Database.
  5. Reboot server if requested.
    1. Neverfail Heartbeat will return as active, with Heartbeat in started state.
    2. BlackBerry Enterprise Server will start.
    3. BlackBerry Enterprise Server upgrade will resume.
  6. If the server was rebooted at Step 5, shutdown Neverfail Heartbeat opting to leave the protected application running. If the server was not rebooted, continue to Step 7.

  8. Once complete, start the BlackBerry services.

On Secondary (passive) Server

Note: When performing the application upgrade with the Setup program on the Secondary Server, please perform exactly the same upgrade steps and provide the same settings used on the Primary Server.

  1. Add a temporary Management IP address to the Principal (Public) NIC. See Knowledgebase article #208 - 'How to Configure Management IP Addressing and Routing with Neverfail Heartbeat'.

Note: This is required for remote SQL Server and/or LDAP connectivity. The Management IP address must be in the same subnet as the Principal (Public) IP address.
  2. Using the Service Control Manager, start SQL Server service to allow connection to the BlackBerry Configuration Database.
  3. Upgrade to BlackBerry Enterprise Server V5.0 by running the setup.exe.

Note: This will also upgrade the BlackBerry Configuration Database.
  4. Reboot the server if required
    1. The server will return as passive with Neverfail Heartbeat in the stated state.
    2. BlackBerry Enterprise Services will be stopped.
    3. The BlackBerry Enterprise Server upgrade will resume.
  5. If server was rebooted at Step 12, stop Neverfail for Blackberry Enterprise Server.
  6. When upgrading applications that depend upon SQL Server, you may need to start the SQL Server services using the Service Control Manager.
  7. Allow the BlackBerry Enterprise Server upgrade to complete.

Note: Do not start BlackBerry services when the upgrade has completed.
  8. Remove the temporary Backdoor IP address from the Public NIC
