BlackBerry MailStore Service Cannot Start on the Secondary Active Server after Switchover

Symptoms

Following a switchover, BlackBerry MailStore Service cannot start on the Secondary Active server. The following events can be found in the server's system log:

Faulting application BlackBerryMailStoreSrvr.exe [...]
Unable to start MailStore Service [...]

Cause

This issue occurs because:

  • the Path system variable is missing under the User Environment variables because WbAdmin did not include it in the backup.

    and
  • Neverfail does not protect registry information under HKEY_CURRENT_USER.

Resolution

To solve this issue, perform the actions below on the Secondary server:

  1. Create a Path system variable and configure it to have the same value as on the Primary server:
    1. Right-click Computer -> Properties .
    2. Select Advanced System Settings .
    3. Click Environment Variables .
    4. Click New to add a new variable.
  2. Start BlackBerry MailStore Service (from Service Control Manager).
