This Knowledge Base article provides information about the Time out in application Starting/Stopping message.
The Time out in application Starting/Stopping message appears during the application start or stop, or during a switchover or failover.
A possible cause is that one or more services could not be started or stopped during the above operations.
To check which operation has timed out:
- Launch the Continuous Availability 2011 Management Client.
- Select the Logs tab.
- Review the Event Log for the failed event.
- Additionally, from the Service Control Manager (SCM), check that all the services are stopped on the server that became passive during the switchover and that all the protected services are started on the server that became active.
