This knowledge base article provides information about the vSphere Web Client Tasks and Events sections displaying the Primary and Secondary server names that were assigned before the servers were renamed during the installation of vCenter Server Heartbeat.

Symptoms

Viewing the vSphere Web Client Task and Events sections displays old Primary and Secondary server names that were used prior to renaming during the installation process.

Cause

This is caused by vCenter Server Heartbeat WebServices using the current name of the host when it is first started.

Resolution

To remove the current host names:

IMPORTANT: Always create a backup before modifying the registry.

  1. Navigate to Start > Run , enter Regedit , and click OK .
  2. Browse to JavaSoft\Prefs\nfwebsvcs\management\nfwebsvc\local_host_name
  3. Delete the value for local_host_name .
  4. Exit Regedit .
  5. Restart vCenter Server Heartbeat WebServices.
