Symptoms
After a network interruption, when Exchange File Filter Discovery runs, the following warning message is displayed:
Warning Task Error Output Exchange: A network interruption may be causing an issue while connecting to Active Directory. This message can be ignored, if it appears in isolation, however successive failures may indicate network outage or lack of availability of AD. For further details enable Exchange extended logging.
Cause
When a network interruption occurs, when Exchange File Filter Discovery runs, the above warning message will be displayed and will continue to appear until the network interruption is resolved.
If the network interruption is persistent, even after the network has recovered, the warning will continue to be logged.
Resolution
- If the network interruption is brief, once the network has recovered, re-enable the Exchange Dismounted Stores rule.

If the network interruption is persistent:
- Restart Neverfail Heartbeat selecting to leave protected applications running.
- Once Neverfail Heartbeat has restarted, re-enable the Exchange Dismounted Stores rule.
