Neverfail for Exchange V5.1.0 does NOT protect Microsoft Speech Engine by default.

This Knowledgebase article provides information about how this release of Neverfail for Exchange V5.1.0 does not protect the optional service, Microsoft Speech Engine, by default.

More Information

After installing Neverfail for Exchange V5.1.0, with the Microsoft Speech Engine service set to Automatic and Started, the Microsoft Speech Engine service is not protected.  If control of the Microsoft Speech Engine service by Neverfail Heartbeat is desired, the Start and Stop scripts must be modified.

To add the Microsoft Speech Engine to the protected services, follow the steps below on both the Primary and Secondary server Start and Stop scripts.

  1. Set the MSSpeech service to manual.
  2. Add the following line to the Start scripts on both the Primary and Secondary servers:
  3. nfnet start "MSSpeechService" /R || goto Failed

  4. Add the following line in the Stop scripts on both the Primary and Secondary servers:

nfnet stop "MSSpeechService" /R || goto Failed

For more information about editing Neverfail Start/Stop scripts, please see Knowledgebase article #995 - 'How to Configure Application Start/Stop/Monitoring Processes'.
