The Path of the Neverfail Installation Folder Should Not Contain Unicode Characters



This Knowledgebase article details a known installation issue when using Unicode characters in the path of the Neverfail installation folder.

The path of the Neverfail installation folder should not contain Unicode characters.

If Neverfail Heartbeat is installed in a folder that has a path containing Unicode characters, the Neverfail R2 Server service will fail to start.

The following errors can be found in the Application Event Log on the server on which Neverfail Heartbeat was started:

NFServerR2: InvokeJVM - Failed to convert Java Arg List

NFServerR2: Neverfail Heartbeat shutdown due to error in InvokeJVM

This behavior is caused by a known issue in Java. More information about this behavior can be found at:

To prevent this from occurring, Neverfail Setup ensures that the installation path of Neverfail Heartbeat does not contain any Unicode characters.

The path of the Neverfail installation folder can only contain the following characters:

  • Lower and upper case letters A to Z
  • Any digit from 0 to 9
  • Special characters: space \  _ - ( ) . :
