Cloud permissions

Overview

Cloud-level permissions govern access to the following Workspaces components:

  • Cloud template management
  • Cloud logs
  • Virtual machine management
  • Workspaces management

Workspaces allows you to configure the following cloud-level permissions:

  1. Templates
    • None: members of the assigned user group have no access to the cloud templates.
    • Read: members of the assigned user group can see the cloud templates but cannot modify them.
    • Full: members of the assigned user group can view the cloud templates and modify them.
  2. Logs
    • None: members of the assigned user group have no access to the selected cloud's logs.
    • Full: members of the assigned user group can see the selected cloud's logs.
  3. Virtual Machines
    • None: members of the assigned user group have no access to the virtual machines residing in the selected cloud.
    • Read: members of the assigned user group can see the virtual machines in the selected cloud but cannot create new ones or change the existing ones.
    • Full: members of the assigned user group can view and modify the existing virtual machines in the selected cloud, as well as create new ones.
  4. Roles
    • None: members of the assigned user group cannot see the selected cloud's permissions.
    • Read: members of the assigned user group can see the selected cloud's permissions but cannot change them.
    • Full: members of the assigned user group can see the selected cloud's permissions and add or remove them as needed.
  5. Settings
    • None: members of the assigned user group cannot see the selected cloud's properties.
    • Read: members of the assigned user group can view the selected cloud's properties and the existing connectors in that cloud.
    • Full: members of the assigned user group can view and edit the selected cloud's properties and they can view the existing connectors in that cloud.
  6. Workspaces
    • None: members of the assigned user group cannot see the selected cloud's workspaces.
    • Read: members of the assigned user group can see the selected cloud's workspaces.
    • Full: members of the assigned user group can see and edit the properties of the selected cloud's workspaces.

Configuring cloud-level permissions

Follow the steps below to configure cloud-level permissions based on your requirements.

  1. Log in to Workspaces using an administrator account.
  2. Go to Permissions and click the Cloud tab.
  3. Use the drop-down menu to select the cloud that you want to grant permissions over.
  4. Click Add Group Permissions and select the user group to define permissions for.
  5. Click the newly added user group and use the sliders to adjust the permissions, based on the descriptions above.
