Mapping Network Shares to a Drive Letter

Overview

Mapping a network share is the process of associating a local drive letter (A through Z) to a storage shared over a network. After mapping a network share, users and other applications can access the share using the assigned drive letter just as they would access a local drive.

Prerequisites

Before you can map a network share, make sure it exists in your workspace. See our dedicated article on creating network shares.

 

Mapping Workspaces provisioned network shares

Follow the steps below to map a network share that was created from within Workspaces.

  1. Log in to your Neverfail Workspaces account.
  2. Go to Workspaces.
  3. Click one of your available workspaces.
  4. Go to the Mapped Drives tab as shown in the image.
  5. Click Map Network Drive as shown above.
  6. Select the network share that you want to map from the drop-down menu.
  7. From the drop-down choose the drive letter that you want to assign to the new network share. You will only see available drive letters.
  8. Click Map Network Drive.
  9. After the Workflow completes you will the newly created mapped drive as shown below.

 

Mapping custom network shares

Follow the steps below to map a network share created outside of Workspaces.

  1. Log in to your Neverfail Workspaces account.
  2. Go to Workspaces.
  3. Click one of your available Workspaces.
  4. Go to the Mapped Drive tab.
  5. Click Map Network Drive.
  6. In the Network Share drop-down menu, select Custom Share.
  7. Enter the full path to the custom share in the Path field.
  8. Choose the drive letter that you want to assign to the new network share.
  9. Click Map Network Drive.
  10. After the Workflow completes you will the newly created mapped drive as shown below.
