How to allow Remote Desktop Connection over the Channel in Neverfail Engine version 8

This Knowledgebase article describes how to modify the SkipAsSource default policy in order to allow Remote Desktop Connection over the Neverfail Channel connection.

Description

The channel communication in Neverfail Engine has been enhanced to use SkipAsSource flag by default. Due to this RDP won't work between Active and Passive server. 

Resolution

To resolve this issue the SkipAsSource policy for the Neverfail Channel connection has to be changed. Here are 3 different methods on how to do this:

1. If Neverfail Engine service is running, open a command prompt set the path to the Neverfail installation folder %Program Files\Neverfail\R2\Bin and type:

nfcmd localhost setpe PublicIdentity AlwaysSkipChannelIPs false
2. If Neverfail Engine service is stopped apply the steps below:
a. Open Neverfail Configure Server Wizard and choose "Stop Web Services" option when prompted so 

b. Under the Channel section set the SkipAsSource to "Never Skip" and click the Finish button to save the changes.
