[Neverfail for Progress MOVEit Plug-ins (Formally Ipswitch)]: How to remove MOVEit Automation cache directory from the replication data set

Summary

This Knowledge base article provides information about how to configure Neverfail for Progress MOVEit Automation Plug-in to remove MOVEit Automation cache directory from the replication data set.

More information

MOVEit Automation cache directory is used to store files while they are being processed by a task; files will automatically be deleted from here  when related tasks complete.

MOVEit Automation cache directory is automatically included by Neverfail for MOVEit Automation plugin in the protected data set: a corresponding inclusion file filter is automatically defined by the plugin, i.e. C:\TEMP\MIC\** for default configurations,  thus if a failover occurs while transactions are in progress, the contents of cache directory would be synced to the passive nodes.

Potential issues

In the situations where a MOVEit Automation task processes very large files (e.g. ~50GB), Neverfail Engine data replication might take too long while the processed files are being written inbound, moved to the MOVEit Automation cache directory and replicated at the same time. A way to avoid this scenario is to remove the cache directory from the Neverfail Engine data replication set, as described in the following procedure.

Procedure

To remove the MOVEit Automation cache directory corresponding file filter one should do the following:

  • identify the MOVEit Automation configured cache directory; (default is C:\TEMP\MIC)
  • disable the corresponding inclusion file filter defined by Neverfail for MOVEit Automation plugin, as follows:
    • if using Engine CE Management Service Interface
      • Select the protected MOVEit Automation Server
      • navigate to Data> Inclusion and expand the inclusion file filters list
      • select the cache directory file filter, click Edit: in the Edit Filter pop-up box disable the filter by un-ticking the Enabled checkbox and then clicking OK.
      • once the configuration is applied, the file filter should be grayed-out and its state marked as Not Effective / Disabled
    • if using Advanced Management Client
      • select the protected MOVEit Automation Server
      • navigate to Data> File Filters> Inclusions
      • select the cache directory file filter, click Edit: in the Edit Inclusion Filter pop-up box disable the filter by un-ticking the Enabled checkbox and then clicking OK.
      • once the configuration is applied, the file filter should be grayed-out and its state marked as Not Effective / Disabled
