How to upgrade an existing Neverfail Continuity Engine cluster to the latest version
Summary
This Knowledgebase article provides the procedure to perform an
upgrade of an existing pair/trio cluster to the latest available version
of Neverfail Engine.
Important Information
Before
you
begin upgrading any Continuity Engine cluster, please make sure you have
a valid software subscription license authorization (perpetual licenses
are no longer valid starting with Neverfail Engine v9). Only Continuity
Engine customers who are current on software maintenance
(software assurance) can upgrade from a legacy version (v8 or below) to
the current version.
After the upgrade, your server will
be configured with a temporary license key: in this 3-days interval, you
must activate the new license key on the upgraded serve
- If you are upgrading from Engine from v8.5 Update 3 or older, please use the procedure from this KB: https://support.neverfail.com/portal/en/kb/articles/how-to-upgrade-from-neverfail-engine-8-5-update-3-or-older-versions-to-a-current-suppprted-version
- We
highly recommend to exclude Neverfail Engine service (NFServerR2) and
the C:\Program Files\Neverfail from antivirus scans that could
interfere with the upgrade process.
Procedure
- Download the latest available Neverfail Continuity Engine version from the link below
and run the .msi installer on the machine hosting your Neverfail Engine
Management Server web console. This will do an in-place upgrade of your
existing (older) EMS web console: https://support.neverfail.com/portal/en/kb/articles/neverfail-continuity-engine
- After the EMS application is installed, log in into the EMS portal (https://localhost:9727) using any existing domain or local admin account.
- From the EMS -> Actions menu, choose the Upgrade option and follow the instructions from the new window:
Applies To:
Neverfail IT Continuity Engine v7.0[.n], v7.1[.n]
